Overview

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) invites applications for the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical & Electrical) Examination 2025 under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India. Applications must be submitted online through ssc.gov.in by 21 July 2025 (23:00 hours). Selected candidates will serve in various ministries/departments/organizations, including the Border Roads Organization (BRO).

Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility

  • Nationality: Citizen of India, or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or person of Indian origin from specified countries with intent to permanently settle in India.
  • Educational Qualification: Diploma, B.E., B.Tech., AMIE (Part A & B), or B.Sc. (Engg.) in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Automobile Engineering from a recognized institution, completed by 21 July 2025.
  • Age Limit (as on 01 January 2025):
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PwBD: 10–15 years (as per rules)
    • Ex-Servicemen: Deduction of military service years
    • Defense Personnel disabled in operations (SC/ST): 8 years

Reservation Notes

  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD reservations applicable as per government norms.
  • Candidates qualifying under relaxed standards (e.g., age, qualifications) counted against reserved vacancies.
  • PwBD candidates eligible for posts suitable for disabilities like Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability, etc. (see notification).

Notes

  • Qualifications must be completed by 21 July 2025.
  • Certificates for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) must be issued by competent authority in prescribed format.
  • Incorrect information leads to candidature cancellation.

Selection Procedure

Computer-Based Examination

  • Objective-type, multiple-choice questions.
  • Conducted in multiple shifts (marks normalized if applicable).
  • Paper-I: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, General Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical).
  • Paper-II: Specialized topics in Civil/Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

Document Verification

  • Candidates shortlisted based on exam performance.
  • Verification of educational qualifications, caste/category certificates, etc.
  • For BRO posts: Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards check.

Important Notes

  • Admission Certificate mandatory for exam entry.
  • Photo ID with Date of Birth required (e.g., Voter’s ID, Passport, PAN Card).

Application Process

How to Apply

  1. Visit ssc.gov.in and complete One-Time Registration (OTR).
  2. Upload clear, frontal photograph (no cap/spectacles) and signature.
  3. Fill Online Application Form, selecting stream (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical).
  4. Pay application fee online by 21 July 2025 (23:00 hours).
  5. Correction window: Check official website for updates (charges: ₹200 first, ₹500 second).

Application Fee

  • General/OBC: ₹100
  • SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen: Exempted
  • Payment Modes: BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Debit Cards

Important Instructions

  • Ensure accurate details matching Matriculation Certificate.
  • Only one application per candidate allowed.
  • Submit before deadline to avoid technical issues.

  • Educational certificates and marksheets.
  • Caste/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen certificates.
  • No Objection Certificate (if employed in government).
  • Change of name documents (if applicable, e.g., marriage certificate).
