SSC CHSL 2025 Examination

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2025, for recruitment to Group C posts, including Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) in various Ministries/Departments/Offices of the Government of India, Constitutional Bodies, Statutory Bodies, and Tribunals.

Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)

Pay Scale: Pay Level-2 (₹19,900–63,200)

Eligibility: Candidates must be 18–27 years as of 01 January 2026 (born between 02 January 1999 and 01 January 2008).

Age Relaxation: Available for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwBD (10–15 years), ESM, and other categories as per government rules.

Data Entry Operator (DEO) / DEO Grade 'A'

Pay Scale: Pay Level-4 (₹25,500–81,100) and Pay Level-5 (₹29,200–92,300 for specific departments).

Eligibility: Candidates must be 18–27 years as of 01 January 2026 (born between 02 January 1999 and 01 January 2008).

Age Relaxation: As above, with additional relaxations for specific categories.

Educational Qualifications (as on 23 July 2025)

  • LDC/JSA: 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board/University.
  • DEO/DEO Grade 'A': 12th Standard in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board/University or equivalent.
  • Note: Degrees/diplomas/certificates from Open and Distance Learning modes must be approved by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC, for the relevant period.

Physical and Medical Standards

For LDC in Border Roads Organization (BRO):

  • Physical Efficiency Test: One-mile run in 10 minutes (mandatory for qualification at GREF Centre, Pune).
  • Physical Standards: Vary by region (e.g., Western Himalayan: 158 cm height, 75 cm chest unexpanded with 5 cm expansion, 47.5 kg weight).
  • Medical Standards: Candidates must be free from nervous instability, constitutional/acquired disabilities, and meet vision, hearing, and general health criteria.
  • Note: Only male candidates are eligible for BRO vacancies.

For PwBD Candidates: Suitable for specific disabilities (e.g., Low Vision, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability). Scribe facility available with restrictions.

Important Note

Failure to meet physical/medical standards for BRO posts will result in disqualification.

Documents for Application

  • Live photograph (clear, without cap/spectacles, full frontal view, 20–50 KB, JPEG).
  • Scanned signature (10–20 KB, JPEG, 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm).
  • Aadhaar Number or alternative ID (Voter ID, PAN, Passport, etc.) for One-Time Registration (OTR).
  • Matriculation/Secondary Certificate details (Board, Roll Number, Year).
  • Disability Certificate Number (if applicable).

Ensure uploaded documents meet the specified requirements to avoid rejection.

Documents for Verification

  • Matriculation/Secondary Certificate.
  • 12th Standard or equivalent certificate.
  • Caste/Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) in prescribed format.
  • PwBD Certificate (if applicable).
  • Ex-Servicemen: Undertaking, Serving Defence Personnel Certificate, or Discharge Certificate.
  • Photo ID with date of birth (e.g., Voter ID, PAN, Passport).

Original documents must be presented during verification.

How to Apply

  1. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on https://ssc.gov.in with Aadhaar or alternative ID.
  2. Fill the online application form, ensuring accurate details (name, DoB, etc.) as per Matriculation Certificate.
  3. Upload live photograph and signature as per specifications.
  4. Pay the application fee: ₹100 (exempted for Women, SC, ST, PwBD, ESM).
  5. Choose three exam centers within the same region in order of preference.
  6. Submit the application and take a printout for records.
  7. Use the correction window (29–31 July 2025) for modifications (charges apply).

Important Note

Applications with blurred photos/signatures will be rejected unless Aadhaar-based authentication is used.

Tier-I Examination (Computer-Based)

Format: Objective-type, multiple-choice questions (100 questions, 200 marks, 60 minutes).

Sections: English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness (25 questions each, 50 marks each).

Negative Marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer.

Qualifying Marks: UR: 30%, OBC/EWS: 25%, Others: 20%.

Languages: English, Hindi, and candidate’s chosen language (from 15 options).

Note

Tier-I is qualifying in nature; marks contribute to final merit.

Tier-II Examination & Skill Test

Sections:

  • Section-I: Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning & General Intelligence.
  • Section-II: English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness.
  • Section-III: Computer Knowledge Test (qualifying).
  • Section-IV: Skill Test/Typing Test (qualifying).

Negative Marking: 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I–III.

Typing Test: English (35 w.p.m.) or Hindi (30 w.p.m.), 10 minutes (15 for scribe-eligible candidates).

Skill Test for DEO: Varies by department (15 minutes).

Final Selection: Based on Tier-I + Tier-II merit, post preferences, and document verification.

Note

Skill tests are qualifying but mandatory for selection.
