Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and government frameworks.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
  • Assist with procurement and asset accounting.
  • Participate in financial policy development and implementation.

Required & Desirable Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Membership: Membership (or eligibility) with CPA Australia, CA ANZ, or IPA.
  • Experience: At least 1–2 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Legislation Knowledge: Understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (PGPA) and relevant accounting standards.
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Australian Citizenship (mandatory for APS roles).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in the public sector or government agencies.
  • Knowledge of SAP, TM1, or other financial systems.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
